Vote YES for the upcoming, Grangeville Idaho, school Levy!

Vote YES for the upcoming, Grangeville Idaho, school Levy!

No one likes to pay more taxes, and with the increased cost of everything, it gets even more challenging.  I wish the state of Idaho had a different funding model for public schools, but this is the one we are faced with, no matter which community we live in.  All small communities in the state of Idaho are faced with relying on a levy to fund a portion of their school, so we shouldn’t feel victimized in Grangeville Idaho.I grew up in a small town in rural Montana.  Do I feel that I received a good education? Absolutely.  How did that happen?  I think back to all of the community members in my hometown who rallied together to support our

COVID-19 and PATIENT CARE

COVID-19 and PATIENT CARE

The exponential growth of COVID-19 poses a serious potential crisis. At Camas Prairie Eye Clinic, we’re contributing in an all-out effort to reduce the spread of this infection by flattening the growth curve. We believe social distancing is the key — and the sooner, the better. With this in mind, we have decided to CLOSE our clinic for routine eye care and public traffic until MARCH 30TH. At that time, we will reassess the possibility of scheduling patients with social distancing on asymptomatic, low-risk patients. The clinic will be OPEN 9:00 AM – NOON to pick up glasses, contacts, and for general phone call questions ONLY. Our doors will be locked. Please call the clinic 208.983.3732 and we will assist

BACK TO SCHOOL – TIME TO GET YOUR KID’s EYES CHECKED!

BACK TO SCHOOL – TIME TO GET YOUR KID’s EYES CHECKED!

Parents always ask me, “When should I get my kid’s eyes checked?  My child seems like he is seeing ok, why should I get his eyes checked?”My answer, it’s NEVER too soon to start.  ALL kids should get their eyes checked, whether there are symptoms or not!Perfect example, my daughter when she was born I screened her eyes around six months.  No problems and no symptoms displayed.  However, around age 3, a perfect time to do a pediatric exam (the time when you can start reasoning with your toddler, well, kind of LOL), she had no symptoms of vision problems, but during the exam, I found she had no prescription for glasses in one eye and a ton in the

Retired Teacher Continues to have an impact in the community!

Mrs. Cris Cunningham donates $200 to Grangeville Elementary Middle School!!!WHAT A GAL!!!!Where do I being?….I had the amazing opportunity to sit down and interview one of our hometown retired teachers, Cris Cunningham! Many of you probably already know that she taught at Grangeville for 20 years, but Cris has done a lot more than just that to help our community!Cris got married to her husband Craig at 19 and had her son the following year. She started helping out at the daycare, which sparked her desire to become a teacher. She moved to Grangeville where she became the sixth grade teacher. Her favorite part about this group was to see them grow and mature so much in just one year. Her

Last spring during our COVID-19 shutdown, I had some time on my hands at my business to focus on some improvements that I had been wanting to make for years, but never enough time.  I have updated my website to make it more user friendly for my patients and hopefully use as an aide to attract more patients to my business. One of the biggest patient management issues during the shutdown last spring, how do I buy more contacts?  How do I buy more of the over the counter products Dr. Lane prescribes for my eyes?  My website solves the problem, YOU CAN ORDER CONTACTS AND MORE ONLINE FROM CAMAS PRAIRIE EYE CLINIC!  When you go to the website, camaseyes.com, simply click “order contacts online

Employee of the Decade!

Employee of the Decade!

If you have been in to the clinic then you know who this is! Loni started working at Camas Prairie Eye Clinic in December of ’08. She started as front desk, just filling in. Eventually she moved to full time where she took on more responsibilities.Often times you would see Loni working with a baby on her lap while also helping patients. This was not a rare thing to see at the eye clinic as there were seven babies who grew up at the clinic until they were old enough for school (Loni’s 4 boys and Dr. Lane’s 3 children)There was one time that Loni specifically remembers watching Ava (Dr. Lane’s daughter, pictured in the walker) when Dr. Lane had

Grangeville’s Santa Truck

Grangeville’s Santa Truck

The “Santa Truck”, the “Ho Ho Truck”, the “Moving Christmas Card”, etc. has been driving around Grangeville for about 30 years now! How did it all get started? Bob Beckman gave some history on it and how it began. “The truck started back in the 1990’s. We were at a fireman meeting and after the meeting a few of the guys thought of putting lights on the truck and driving it around town.” After driving it around town with just the lights on it, the Chief fireman at the time, got numerous calls from community members saying how much they loved it. He said, “D*****, you guys created a monster!” Because he knew at that point it was going to

Walk/Run For Life Community Event

Today we wanted to highlight a community event that took place May 8th at Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Hall. The event has been hosted by the Hope Center for 14 years. The “Walk/Run for Life” specifically was launched as a fundraiser as well as a form of awareness for the Hope Center and everything they stand for. There are two locations at which you can reach the Hope Center in Grangeville and Kamiah. The value of life is foundational for the Hope Center and the purposes in which the office exists. It is noted that there is a lack of information not only regarding pregnancy but also practical everyday life things that young people especially would benefit from. What
